Habanero Syrup

This is a super easy syrup recipe that is delicious on top of a bowl of Vanilla Ice Cream for the Hot-heads out there. Or why not on a piece of apple pie, waffles or anything else you can think of.

You'll need;

1 dl Brown Sugar
1 dl Water
5 Habaneros (Or more/less based on wanted heat)

-Put water and brown sugar in a pot on the stove and bring it to a boil.
-Slice the habaneros and add them to the syrup once the sugar has melted. Let it cook on low heat for a few minutes.
-Scoop out the habanero pieces or use a strain, pour the syrup into a bottle and let it cool. You're done, now enjoy!

Tips;
-Save the habaneros! Let them dry and you got some sugary habaneros that you can use for something else.
-Swap the habaneros for something else if chilies arn't your thing. I use the same recipe with whole cinnamon bark pieces and use it to make delicious Cinnamon Cappuccinos

Cream Soda

Cream soda is something that has never really made it to Finland for some bizarre reason. You can sometimes find them among some import soda cans in certain places but the prices make it nothing you can splurge on often.

While not really an actual Cream Soda recipe, this is what I tend to do to calm those Cream-soda urges.

You'll Need;

1 Whole Vanilla Bean
1 Bottle Lemon Soda (7Up or similar)
1 Empty tea bag

- Chop off a two centimeter piece of vanilla (~½ inch).
- Cut it along the side as well and open it up slightly to maximize flavor.
- Pop it in a tea bag and tie it off.
- Just put the teabag in the Lemon soda bottle over the night and you got a delicious lemon-vanilla soda the next day.

Tips;
-For my soda hacks I tend to use one of the budget brand sodas rather then a big brand. Largely due to the price point but also because they usually have a milder taste and thus making the vanilla more pronounced.
-Be sure to check the prices on Vanilla. At least here the price-point vary greatly. I tend to always go for Rainbow.
-For tea bags I usually get a box of empty bags meant for loose tea. But I guess you could use some cheesecloth if you want some Eco friendly version.
